Jersey Boys Chester Theatre reviews
Tired, but rockin
The faithful were called together Friday evening by the high priests of Southern Culture for their Kettering, Ohio rendition of Southern Hard Rock. Ricky Medlock (short'y's boy) and Gary Rossington were particularly impressive, Overall, a fine performance. Mr. Keyes, the replacement keyboard player, was outstanding and a very worthy replacement for Billy Powell. I enjoyed him greatly. Skynyrd Nation song was my favorite part of the song set. Mr. Van Zant, Rob/Johnny seemed a bit tired, but his voice was strong. I observed drawbacks such as the lack of technology (sliding backdrops-looks like a sixth-grade school performance). Hard to fault the greatest name in Southern Hard Rock Music. Glad to have attended, if only to dream of seeing the original lineup in the 1970s at Taladega Raceway in Alabama.
